Schaumburg gets its name from the primarily German immigrants who eventually replaced the Sauk, Fox< Kickapoo, and Pottawatomie indigenous tribes. These European settlers were mostly farmers. German remained the primary language of Schaumburg households until after World War 2. The village of Schaumburg is located in Chicago’s “Golden Corridor”.
